Apa kata tani berkungsi pengalaman bagi yg pernah membuat rakaman sendiri d umah.
Salam to all LTR members. Aku ni baru jua masuk member hari ani, batah plg ku tau sal laman web LTR so i guess tonites the nyte aku jadi member nya yg sah.
Ok, lets go stret to the discussion. Pengalaman ku membuat rakaman sendiri ani batah lah udah. Dari ku form 4 ku mula experiment rakam gtar tracks. Teruna ku pacah ketika aku mula2 experience main gtar karan... and tht was using a genuine american Fender Stratocaster! warna nya lagi sunburst toh. And i learned a lot of scales back then, my favorite was the E minor Pentatonic, sampai tah hari ani!! So back to recording, masa atu i only have a Panasonic Hi-fi 1500watt, double deck kaset and 5 cd-changer. Kalau zaman late nineties, kira labih dari ok tu ah to have a cd player tht big. jadinya, how i record sampai multiple gtar tracks atu? caranya mudah saja, Gtr-->hi-fi mic input (pakai adapter damit cucuk ke kabel gtr)-->press record! atu saja... untuk multiple track mcm gtr 1 and gtr 2, main kn balik rythm gtr yg udah d rakam kai kaset deck 1 then kaset deck 2 will record dari deck 1 + track gtr yg baru dimainkan secara langsung. Paham? nda? hehehe paham2 kn saja tia... but this is how i work things out back then. Tapi syg lah, semua kaset2 yg ku pakai atu bekulat udah!! However, adalah satu dua yg sampat ku save ke pc few years ago.
Imagine ja kamu cana sound ku masa atu... pakai lagi distortion pedal buatan korea (Drive brand, warna biru tu)!! ngam eh bunyi nya... carek yo!! hahaha. Tapi lama2 atu, pandai la ku kontrol sound nya mcmana. My frens selalu tu betanya, ada lagu baru buii?? kalau ada, bagi saja lah rah bisdorang suruh dgr d umah. Kebanyakan drg impress lah.. so aku apa lagi.. kambang lah idong!! gegegege.
Few years later when i was studying in UBD, a fren introduce to me this CakewalkHome studio + Fruityloops software. Punyalah sakai aku!! bek jua masa atu aku mmbali udah pc, sananglah jua. Then aku dgr lah ia punya audio project, fuhh... jeles ku wah tarus! imagine ja kamu, ada drum track tarus kali ahh. Pakai fruityloops ja ia buat!! So therefore aku pinjam lah, install tarus kai pc d umah. Hari2 tah ni ku experimen record gtr ke pc and buat drum track kai fruityloops. masa atu main antam saja tu, alum g tau sal 'velocity', 'compressing' and proper eq-ing... in the end, outcome nya ancur lah! Nda lagi pandai kan panning kiri kanan.. nada stereo ani bah!! hahahaha.Tapi puas jua ati dpt rakam lagu sendiri walaupun band ku ada udah.
Then i went to gadong. pigi ku rah kuminis cari lagi softwares yg related to audio production, masa atu tah aku nampak Cubase SX! Its one of the best la bagi ku (masih g ku pakai tu hari ani, atu pun untuk 're-amping' gtar ja lah!) Time atu aku alum brapa arif kan pakai plugins... clueless ani wah apa gunanya? cana pakai? dah lama2 baru tah ku paham.. atu pun betaun2 check rah majalah and finally rah internet.
pastu aku tukar g aku punya DAW (digital audio workstation),i went back to use cakewalk, atu pun ProTracks. Bleh tahan jua lah, ada jua lagu2 hit ku pernah buat kai DAW ani. Cumanya masalah ku time atu, aku nda pandai cna kan bagi loudness yg maximum... mcm kalau main dlm kreta, baru katik ke volume 5 udah tia bangal nyaring!! atu tah yg ku cari2 masa atu.
Baik jua Tuhan atu Maha Pemurah... terjmpa tah ku dis one plugin yg ku baca dlm majalah music, nama pluginnya PSP Vintage Warmer2. Cuba tah kamu check dis one out if ada yg alum tau. Aku ada plg full version nya (sori ah, berusahalah kamu mencari crack nya kalau dpt demo nganya!) Bukan ani saja, bnyk lagi tu compressor bisai2 yg buleh bagi more 'warmth' n menyaringkan music kamu, mcm SSL, URS, RSO Extreme Punch, AMT Multi Max, Tracks, etc.
But for now i have use another DAW which i think is great for my Vista OS lappy (tunggu abis warranty, ku downgrade ni ke Window XP!! Bnyk program ku nda compatible yoo!) And tht program is Cakewalk's Sonar 7 Producer Edition. kalau d liat saja mixer console nya, nampak complex plg. Tapi function nya sama mcm DAW yg lain2 atu. But this one ku liat bnyk lah advantages nya dari DAW lain yg aku ada. Best!!
I wud like to have Pro Tools sumday tapi biar tia dulu, i stick to wat i feel best and comfortable. I knw bnyk ni yg minat kan makai protools hehehe. So yg ada protools atu, share2 lah experience ah. hehehe.
Overall let me just share to u wat r the things i have back at home after all of the pain and hard times ive been into, just for the sake of learning audio production. I have couples of DAWs running in my pc and laptop. kalau malas2 kan micing ke cabinet, i use Line6 Toneport to record the gtrs/bass (dat includes clean dry signal for re-amping) and also the vocals. i have several effects pedal left. I also have a Pearl Forum series drumset, double bass. So definitely evrything got mic'ed. Microphone set nya ku campur2 lah, shure sm57, samson and ddrumtriggers. Im luking forward to get a new kick mic soon... audix D6 lah bisai... 1 of the professional recommendation tue~
Kalau dtg malas ku, ku programming saja drum ah. I have Toontrack Ezdrummer & Superior; Addictive Drums and BFD2. Mostly nya ku pakai Addictive drums lah, sal soundnya nyaman bagi ku. kalau BFD2 atu, canggih plg... tapi aku alum lagi brapa pandaikn buat tweaking.
Then kalau kan record gtar atu aku buat re-amping sajalah selalunya. either dari toneport gearbox or other simulation/modules mcm amplitube atu lah. kalau kan pakai amp head bnr2 yg standard urg makai, nda jua ku mampu. Meby one day lah ku bali dua-tiga biji selajur... ahahaha.. kaya tu geng!!
Aku ni nda plg ada sijil audio engineering kah apa, yatah dari pengalaman saja tmpt ku bljar. trial and error atu biasa tu, kalau urg kumplen bida kah apa, jgn putus asa..teruskan saja. Yg penting we learned sumthing new everyday. Yg kumplen atu alum tantu paham cna kan membisai kan recording, suruh cia buat mastering and editing. Abis2 pun 'fader' nganya tu d turun naiknya. hahaha
So i guess atu sajalah ku dpt share... panjang dah text ku ani. Balik2 bini ku betanya... takut ya ku bmsg rah bini2 lain?! wawawawa

i used to use cubase sx3 jua masa ku di university but i bought a digidesign 003 and upgraded to protools 7.4 a few months ago... the most important thing about recording digitally is the front end, i.e. having a GOOD condenser microphone, a preamp and a A/D converter. Not to mention a good monitoring set up because what is the use of having a good recording sound when you compromise the tracks when you mix because the speakers are not flat?
i really dig using protools, even though i am still more familiar with cubase. its just much faster for tracking and editing audio. kalau MIDI, i still prefer cubase. depends on your budget lah i guess bro and what type of mixing you end up doing -- out-of-the box or in-the-box / outboard or plug-ins. cubase is good for its VST and DX plugin compatibility, and since there are lots of cracked copies of really good plugins in those formats. RTAS on protools lain hal. the cracked copies of these plugins are not worth your time! paksa bali yg original (beribu lagi tu).
one advice is can give is invest in the essentials: good mics (not entry level ones), good preamp, good interface (@96khz), good monitors and good cables (you're only as strong as your weakest link). DAWs all essentially serve the same purpose so its really up to preference... one thing you have to remember is a lot of products in the pro audio world are just marketed well, one rule of thumb i learned in uni is that if a product says 'professional' on the box more cases than not, it isn't meant for professional use! in audio you have to live with the rule that you get what you pay for - a behringer c-1 condenser running through a beringer preamp/interface will never get the same result as a nuemann u87i through a neve 1073. however, it doesnt mean you still cant get an ok sound but what good is listening to mediocre recording of a brilliant song?

Yeah, u're right Dinny. All those stuff u've mentioned r part of the the essential needs for recording. There r lots of things dat needs to be taken aware off in the world of recording. Search saja rah internet about home recording and u'll get tons of gears, advise, tips, techniques, etc; just to make everything to be rated A ok for ur listeners about ur production skills.

Wow! i dun noe wat to say,bnyk nda ku paham..haha..,but i knw kamu mmang experted dh..,,ok cerita pngalaman ku rcording drumah ani mmang bleh kmu ktawakn lah..its ok..,,its started last yer,wen im found dat one progrm ani dpt not just rcord sounds but more than dat.den mula lah sakai ku mncipta lagu,mnjadi jua akhrnya...wlaupun soundnya low standrd x...tpi nyamn jua msih..,btapa lah gumbiranya bila dpt mmbuat lgu sndiri..haha...,msa ani aku stop lu coz dsktop ku rusak..kn pkai lappy kang jdi barat cha..so now nunggu duit labih kn mmbli dsktop baru..,,last skali..i think kmu mau tau wat progrm i've been used in diz story..haha..start to laugh..cuz its just a simple NERO... PEACE Y'ALL...

its ok bro! walaupun recording ala kadar, yg penting tani puas dengan apa yg tani buat! nda ja? if ada budget nanti, upgrade cia pc mu atu. Buleh jua pakai DAW yang lain2 atu. Dpt jua share2 pengalaman baru.... hehehe. Peace!

Ada plang ku mncuba-cuba mmbli installer rh kdai kuminis a2..yg pling latest ku bli audio king installer 2008 dvd..,liat rh list nya bnyk progrm nya wah...,ada FL,CWALK,MAGIX n mcm2 g lah..,jdi ku cuba tah makai FL lu..coz rmai urg nyurh mncuba FL..,skalinya...bangang ku mliat wh haha..,mna inda..,inda ku tau bh cna mngguna kn..,sakai dh dlm hti ku ni kn mncipta lgu yg drum nya pkai comp ja..skalinya..adui nda ku paham..,tpi ku cuba tia jua sdaya upaya..dmi nda mmbzir duit haha..,tpi akhrnya nda jua..mnjdi,pning kpala ku ada plang haha..mna inda tmpo lari..,instrumnt yg ku cari2 bunyinya ilang...,last2 giv up tah ku..smpai ani ku jaruk gnya dvd installer ah haha..,,bh sory yo! Bcrita plang ku..lau mnyamak usulnya crita ku ani sound2 ja k..haha..,PEACE Y'all!

no wories la bro! beceta panjang nda papa tu, namanya discussion hahaha. Aku pun makai FL jua dulu, batah jua kan paham lah. kalau ko kan blajar balik cna makai FL, ko cuba search rah youtube kah, forum FL kh if ada. Search saja 'fruityloops tutorial' rah yahoo.
y not ko cuba checkout Addictive Drums. Its one of the best la bagi ku. Drumset nya pun complete tu dengan 'china' nya sekali pun ada tu. hehehe. nda tau lah ah if d kuminis ada bjual.
