Got this title idea from kayarex... (if ku dpt duit for this thread, i give u 15%) ;)

Anything related to home recording which gurls think a bitchy thing.. hahaha...
I might try to answer if u buds r too lazy to google the net for what u wanted to knw.

I might give a lil' tips how to do this and that on certain things. But i wont be giving too much details. Ehehehe...

I knw u lads use popular DAWs like cubase, sony acid, cakewalk sonar or logic (mac). Those things are expensive shit and picking so much pc memories.

I wanted to share on what DAW i use in the studio...
So let me introduce to u guys the REAPER (www.reaper.fm), cost around US$60 for license biasa or else, its free. Very light, wont use much pc memories and other shits. U can even open multiple vsts up to 3 or 4 at a time depends on ur computer's performances. Ive been using it for the past 3 months and im loving it!

PS: i did make a pretty similar thread on recording like this before.. so yeah!

Updated: July 26th 2009

Today im gonna blabbering about guitar amp simulators like
a) stand-alone like Line6 PODFarm, IKMultimedia Amplitube, Guitar Rig or Peavey's Revalver MKIII
b) VST or RTAS like Dirthead vst, Hughe's and Kettner's Warp vst, Soldano's SoloC vst, etc.

Let's discuss about section a, the stand alone type. Standalone sbanarnya buleh di jadikan fx after tracking guitar. If u got hardware mcm Line6 Toneport (UX1, UX2 or UX8) or Lexicon Omega, lagi sanang, cucuk ja kabel gtar ke input yg khas untuk gtar.

I remember masa ku mula2 pakai amplitube software, tpaksa guna adapter untuk cucuk ke pc. Silap haribulan, heheh tekana static buii!! Sound pun kurang memuaskan, too digital and fizzy outcomes.

Today im using Line6 UX2 (c kayarex pun tdapat udah~). I get good results with the amps yg terdapt dlm software Gearbox&PODFarm nya. So most of the guitar trackings during recording session with other bands pun i use either Gearbox or PODFarm.

For the section b atu, VST or RTAS kalau kan d pakai untuk tracking gtar sanang saja. Rakam dulu clean track, then reamp using these guitar simulator or vst as an fx. Kalau u guys pandai jua, reamp using amplitube kah tapi cabinet nya kamu bypass, then use impulses. Kalau kan tau apa impulses, kamu google sha~ ehehe. The best impulses are from Recabinet.

Thts all folks \m/

UPDATES 2nd August 2009

Here's another guitar vst plugins im promoting for the metalheads out there. It emulates almost all real tube amps available today. The maker for this plugin have discussed with heavy music producers to create a better plugin to reamp guitar DIs. Check out c Catharsis punya tube amp emulator, i knw dis guy coz he did reamp my guitar tracks before.

checkout http://www.acmebargig.com/ for further details. Highly recommended!!

dude ..
i think my problem with my sx3 and sd2 is that my laptop's 2Gb ram isnt enuf for them to work at same time kali.

Reply to This

2gb shud b ok jua. Does it crash when u loading it on ur sx3?

Reply to This

im checkin out reaper tarus... mcmana to load vst? does it detect itself like sx3?

Reply to This

reaper ani if u install for the first time it will ask u where to detect all ur vst.. so u link saja lah to ur vst folder. Tapi u can still ask it to detect ur newly added vsts under 'preference' menu. Rescan folder saja lah.

ok, got the reaper. the vst works on the reaper. ok now.. how do u lay the drum parts ah? i mean (im not sure ur exact terms for the it)...kalau makai ezplayer by itself , pandai ku. how do u do it ah?

i think cubase and sd2 atu makai bnyk ram bah. sal ada org using the similar software, his PC is with 8Gb ram.

it works on reaper coz ia nda makan ram like u said.

Reply to This

it refers to reaper dude. ehehe.

u want to load sd mu kah? Like i said before i havent experience sd2 yet, but if the ezdrummer atu, i knw lah how to load it in reaper.

Reply to This

ok, i got it to load. using ezplayer. here is the instruction:

1) Configuring Reaper:
• Go to Reaper’s Options > Preferences > Audio > Playback tab and make sure that
‘Run FX when stopped’ is enabled.
2) Inserting the plugins:
• Open the Reaper’s FX Browser (click on Track FX icon).
• Click on VSTi tab and drag the EZplayer plugin to the track FX icon.
• Drag YFDS to the same track FX icon (it should always be after EZplayer in the FX chain)
3) Setting up:
• In EZplayer, choose the appropriate MIDI Output format for YFDS
• Select a groove in EZplayer and press Play
4) Building a drum track:
• Once you have found the right groove, simply drag and drop the MIDI file to the
EZplayer/YFDS track in Reaper.
• Click and drag either edge of your new MIDI clip to create a repeatable loop.
• Add additional grooves from EZplayer to create your new drum track.

i got to serial 1..udah serial 2 atu bangang tah aku. sal i couldnt find the track FX icon. nya open fx browser. so i press 'shift+F'...then i couldnt find track FX icon.

ok.. dunno if this explanation will answer ur problem dude. But this is wat i do to load my ezdrummer.

Go to:
1) Insert ----> Virtual instrument on new track...
2) the FX Browser dock will pop up, so i select my dfh sampler Toontrack 16 out (not EZPlayer!)
3) Build Routing Confirmation box will pop up, click OK
4) the ezdrummer vst will load after dat, so far gud news la ni! i normally choose drumkit from hell expansion.
5) than i choose the groove and drag it into the first track on top out of the nine tracks.
6) press play to check if the groove u select really plays with sound.

my reaper is version 3.05 masani.

Reply to This

ok.mine is 3.06.

ok..rupa nya my ezplayer pro beload udah automatically.

ok..i drag the specific groove to the track..press play. but no sound. iatah ku mcari what configurations have i missed.

Reply to This

if i load the SD2..i get sound. but when i load the ezplayerpro.(which has drum grooves)..i drag em onto reaper track, it doesnt gives out any sound.

Reply to This

my EZPlayer pun nda mau give out sound. Probably in my theory is that no drumkit is loaded there, yatah midi nya saja dat can be drag. i might b wrong but i have the same problem with u on EZPlayer. The grooves i drag from my ezdrummer runs fine.

Reply to This

ok, i guess i must somehow only drag the drum groove sampler from SD2. ,masalah nya i dont know how to do that. coz i hv only xperience getting drum groove from ezplayer..
