Startmaker memang semua dari singapore, originally own by bruneian who made a deal with Swee Lee Spore, in supplying all their equipments. The owner made an agreement with Swee Lee in terms of only supplying Starmakers with equipment un Brunei. But before starmaker exist, Swee Lee had been supplying equipment for Henry (rah Liang Toon).. so Swee Lee will not stop supplying it to henry as it will break their long term relationship. So owner starmaker nda happy so he told Swee Lee to take over starmaker.
Anyway i find the equipment sold in Starmaker now are just too expensive... its partly bcoz of the import tax imposed. Mbuka kadai sendiri?? hmmm... Credentials! credentials!

@kayarex:
cana boleh kau tau semua ani?!? Liang toon ni di mana? I thought ia tutup dah? Yea, the only place reasonable is GuanHockLee bandar, IMO. Picks are cheap... If I remember correctly. Digitech and behringer, AROUND MSRP price. Other shops are wayy over MSRP! Gah!
well, i was involve in the opening of Starmakers show at Asma. bcoz the Ex owner wanted my help in term of organising some part of the show. And he told me about the story month after that. Henry is the owner of GHL.
I even know the story on most of the Spore music shops including Swee Lee, City Music and Davis guitar. that includes who was the originally dealer for certain brand. dulu mana banyak kadai music di spore, back in 1990, the main music shop were Swee Lee (which was at old building Plaza Singapura), Yamaha(Plaza Singapura), Raymond music and City Music. Davis guitar was only a small shop selling guitar accessories like picks,strings,straps etc. the size of the shop was almost the same mcm kadai Nasi Katok Mama di SKH Qlap. Davis guitar was the only music shop di Peninsula Shopping ctr at that time. They had moved at least 3 times tapi semua di ground floor. ESP original dealer was Raymond's..but when Raymond closed down, the dealership then taken by Davis. Davis Guitar owner's daughter married to City music owner's son. (but i think they are having marriage problem but i cant get into detail on that hehe.) Guitar Workshop at excelsior was part music studio and guitar store selling 2ndhand guitar (just like what they do now.) hmmm...apa lagi ahh.. but anyway, the music store in spore are just growing like mushrooms.
so what else do u want to know? kedai guitar di Teck Guan Plaza? it had been there since the 80's. tapi was in the interior part of the building next to excalator. hmm...i remember guitar yang paling canggih masa atu was Maison Flying V (copy) in pink color. i hardly see maison guitar nowaways.
